Unique Tribute Book

This special tribute book, including a foreword by Barbara Clough, is now available in shops and on-line. It includes the inside story of Nottingham's Cloughie statue which was unveiled in November 2008. The book describes how one man's admiration for his football hero led to lasting tributes, on-line and in bronze, for the man known as the Master Manager. The author's proceeds will go to charity.

We can now offer you the chance to buy a copy of the book, signed by the author, at half-price. This special offer price of £4.00 plus postage and packing is available until midnight on Monday December 14th 2015. See the link below.

Marcus Alton is the editor of this non profit making tribute website, which has the backing of the Clough family. Starting with Marcus' first emotional meeting with the Great Man, the book tells the story of his conversations with Cloughie, the inspiration behind the worldwide campaign for a knighthood and the massive fund-raising efforts for a bronze statue, which won the support of thousands of fans as well as many celebrities. For the first time, the book reveals how the statue fund nearly failed less than two weeks before the planned launch. The 20 colour photo's include exclusive images of the statue during its production.

Marcus wrote the book with the approval of Mrs Clough. In the foreword, Mrs Clough describes the book as an inspirational story. She praises the fund-raising efforts for the statue and describes this website as a wonderful tribute.

Mrs Clough and her family attended the official launch of the book in December, 2008. Other special guests at the event were Nottingham Forest's European Cup legends Martin O'Neill, John Robertson and Garry Birtles.

Marcus' royalties from the book have helped to raise hundreds of pounds for the Brian Clough Memorial Fund, which has been run by the Clough family for the types of charities Brian supported. On Saturday, December 13th, 2008, a special signing session was held at Nottingham Forest's City Ground, where Cloughie's European Cup winning captain John McGovern joined Marcus to sign copies of the book.

Said John: "There's no doubt the statue is a superb tribute to Brian Clough and it was fantastic to be there in November to see it unveiled in front of thousands of people in Nottingham city centre. I'm very pleased to support this tribute book which describes how the statue came about and is also raising money for the Brian Clough Memorial Fund. I'm sure the book will be a popular stocking filler this Christmas."

Marcus also signed copies of the book in the Broadmarsh Centre in Nottingham. A signing session was hosted by MSR Newsagents at the Broadwalk (Saturday, December 20th, 2008).

A review in the Nottingham Forest matchday magazine described the book as a 'labour of love' and a 'fantastic tribute' - repeating words used by Barbara Clough in her foreword. Reviewer Richard Harrison wrote: "The narrative flows fluidly from chapter to chapter, the end of each one hinting at what is to come in the next. The story would be of interest to anyone with an appreciation of Clough's achievements but will particularly appeal to those who purchased memorabilia or made donations to the (statue) fund."

You can buy a personally signed copy for the special offer price of £4.00 (usual price £7.99) plus £3.50 postage and packing. It can be signed by the author to a name of your choice. E-mail your order via the link below. Further royalties will go to a charity supported by Brian and Barbara.

The book has sold out at various outlets including the Nottingham Forest shop, but is still available at WH Smiths (Victoria Centre, Nottingham), Waterstones in Nottingham, branches of MSR Newsagents in Nottingham, the Nottingham Tourism Centre (next to Nottingham Council House) and the Bookcase in Lowdham.

For trade orders, contact Jane Streeter at Bookcase Editions Ltd, 50 Main Street, Lowdham, Nottinghamshire, NG14 7BE. Telephone 0115-9664143.
