August 2000

The launch of this website back on 8th August 2000 was featured in national newspapers and radio stations. Marcus Alton, who started the site after learning website code from a book, is still the website editor.  Since the website began, Marcus has written four books about the Master Manager, as well as hosting the Clough tribute podcast Green Jumper, which was launched in February 2021.

Cloughie gave his 'thumbs-up' to the website, saying: "If they want to set-up a website for me, why not?" His son Nigel said the family had no problem with the website, although he admitted his dad wouldn't know a computer if it bit him!

Back in 2003, the website received a huge number of 'Get Well' messages for Cloughie following his liver transplant - and they were all passed on to him. The following year, he personally thanked the website editor.

In 2010, to mark the website's tenth anniversary, Mrs Clough released a special statement in which she said she hoped the website would continue for many years to come.

The site was also the base for the statue fund which raised £70,000 for the brilliant bronze sculpture of Brian in Nottingham city centre. It was unveiled by Mrs Clough in 2008. The site was also the focal point of the knighthood campaign and now hosts the popular tribute podcast Green Jumper, which has listeners in more than 60 countries.
