Middlesbrough: 1955-1961. Debut v Barnsley on September 17th 1955. 197 goals in 213 league games. First league goal: Middlesbrough v Leicester City at Ayresome Park, October 8th, 1955.


Sunderland: 1961-1964. Joined club in July 1961 for around £45,000. Debut v Walsall in August 1961. 54 goals in 61 league games. Injured v Bury at Roker Park, Boxing Day, 1962. Retired through injury in November 1964 and joined the club's coaching staff. Last league goal: Sunderland v Leeds United at Roker Park, September 5th, 1964.

England caps: 1959. v Wales (Ninian Park); v Sweden (Wembley)
