Derby Statue

THE DERBY STATUE

The Clough and Taylor Statue was unveiled outside Derby County's Pride Park Stadium in August 2010. The work of sculptor Andrew Edwards, the statue signifies the magnificent managerial partnership which enjoyed its first major success at Derby County.

The pair guided the Rams to the Second Division title, winning promotion to the First Division. With a host of inspired signings, Derby went on to secure the First Division title in 1972.  Clough later recalled it was best team he ever managed.

After resigning from Derby, Clough and Taylor worked together at Brighton before teaming-up again at Nottingham Forest. There, they transformed the Reds from an average Second Division club into European champions, not once but twice.

Although Taylor left Forest in 1982, within a few months he was back at Derby County. Although his return ended with disappointment, Derby fans will never forget the magical managerial partnership, making this the perfect place for the statue.

The split between the pair ended in acrimony and Clough later said he regretted not making up with his old pal. Cloughie went on to achieve further trophy success on his own at Forest, re-building and creating several amazing teams.
